Lexel Imaging Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures a wide range of monochrome CRTs for commercial and military programs. Using specialized processes, Lexel has supplied tubes for Head-Up, Head-Down and Helmet Display applications for such aircraft as A7, F5, F14, F15, F16, F18, JAS, Tornado, S3A, AWACS, NASA Space Shuttle as well as numerous other military and commercial programs. Other areas of experience include a variety of tubes for both surface and sub-surface Naval vessels. Lexel is also a critical supplier of CRTs and CRT Displays for military Ground Vehicles, having produced both for thermal imaging sights used in the US Army M1A1 Tank, Bradley Fighting Vehicle System, HIRE System, as well as international platforms used by the United Kingdom, German, Dutch, Korean and Spanish Armies.
In the industrial and commercial markets, Lexel is a supplier of specialized CRTs for Film and Image Recording, Projection and Medicalmarkets.
The company has the capability of manufacturing tubes as small as 0.5 inch to 26 inches in size, utilizing virtually any available phosphor. Specific applications requiring specialized performance are met by our electron optic design capabilities, using computerized gun modeling .

History
The origins of Lexel Imaging Systems date back to the 1930’s as part of Allan B. Dumont Labs in Clifton, NJ, as one of the early pioneers of modern day television. The company’s history follows a series of progressions to the present day operation in Lexington, KY:
1951 – Became part of Fairchild Camera
1972 – Became part of Thomson-CSF (Thomson Electron Tubes and Devices Corp.)
1984 – Relocated operations to Dover, NJ
1988 – Became part of Hughes Aircraft Company (Hughes Display Products)
1989 – Acquired the Direct View Storage Tube product line from IST Corp., Horseheads, NY
1991 – Co-located with Hughes, Carlsbad and Projectron, Inc. to Lexington, KY
1991 – Renamed Hughes Lexington after the consolidation
1994 – Acquired the CRT Photorecording product line from Litton Electron Tubes, Tempe, AZ
1997 – Through a management buyout became Lexel Imaging Systems
2000 – Became part of Video Display Corporation, Tucker, GA
2000 – Acquired the IST E/O CRT and CRT Display product lines, Horseheads, NY
2000 – Acquired the Raytheon CRT and CRT Optical Filter product lines, Quincy, MA
2000 – Acquired the Anacomp Charactron Tube line, San Diego, CA
Through industry consolidations Lexel Imaging Systems is now one of a remaining few Special Purpose Tube and Display manufacturers. These acquisitions are Lexel Imaging Systems commitment to remaining a long term supplier of these products to the military, industrial and commercial markets.
