Lexel Imaging Systems began as a manufacturer of specialty CRT’s and through a series of acquisitions, partnering and technology sharing has evolved into a multifaceted organization with a range of specialized capabilities.  The company began in the 1930’s and became part of Hughes Aircraft Company in 1989.  In 1997, the company split from Hughes and became Lexel Imaging Systems.  In 2000, Video Display Company acquired Lexel and since then the company has grown and expanded through a number of acquisitions involving:

 

-         Image and Sensing Technology Corporation ( Horseheads, NY )

-          Raytheon Corporation’s CRT operation ( Quincy, MA )

-          CRT Scientific Corporation ( Van Nuys, CA )

-          Anacomp Corporation  ( San Diego, CA )

-          Datagraphics Corporation  ( San Diego, CA )

-          Phosphor Solutions  ( Northridge, CA )

-          Sony Corporation's Projection Tube operation ( Mizunami, Japan )

 

In addition, the Video Display business units of Teltron, Wintron and Infodex have been relocated to Lexel’s manufacturing operations in Lexington, KY.   In the interest of maintaining high quality standards, Lexel became certified to ISO 9001:2000 in December, 2003 and updated to ISO 9001:2008 in December, 2008.
